Gene Vincent and The Blue Caps is an album by Gene Vincent in the year 1957.

It was his second studio album, after "Blue Jean Bop ," and the second with his backing band, the Blue Caps. The Blue Caps were Cliff Gallup on lead guitar, Willie Williams and Paul Peek on rhythm guitar, Jack Neal on bass, Dickie Harrell on drums and The Jordanaires as backup singers.

The album was produced by Ken Nelson.

Publication

The original album was released in March 1957 on Capitol Records. 2002 Capitol brought the album as a CD out with five additional bonus tracks. However, the panel could not repeat the success of its predecessor ( Blue Jean Bop! Reached # 16 on the pop charts ).

Trivia

The title " Cat Man " should be gecovert years later by the band The Birthday Party on their debut EP.

Jeff Beck, who also wrote the liner notes for the re-release, was in a Mojo interview known, " Gene Vincent and The Blue Caps " was the album that had influenced him most.
