General Surgery (band)

General Surgery is the oldest active grindcore band in Sweden. While she was assigned to the Goregrind in their early years, she joined after their reunion Grindcore and Death Metal and is assigned to the Death Grind.

Band History

General Surgery was founded in 1989 in Stockholm as a grindcore project of musicians from various Swedish Death Metal bands under the influence of the British grindcore pioneers Carcass. After some line- up changes, the band recorded in 1990 in the occupation of Richard Cabeza (vocals), Joacim " Jocke " Carlsson (guitar), Matti Kärki ( bass) and Mats Nordrup (drums), the demos Erosive Offals and Pestisferous Anthropophagia on. After Cabeza moved to Dismember, Grant McWilliams was the new singer, and it was followed by the third 1990 Demo Internecine prurience. After the recordings of the EP Necrology Matti Kärki moved to Dismember and Mats Nordrup went to Regurgitate. The EP was released by Relapse Records in 1991 as vinyl and in 1994 was re-released on CD. After a long break, General Surgery 1999 formed new. There followed several splits with other grindcore bands and more lineup changes. With the departure of singer Grant McWilliams, the publication of the official debut album Left Hand Pathology, which finally appeared in 2006 delayed. In 2009 they had their second studio album Corpus In Extremis - Analysing Necrocriticism that when it became the group stylistically closer to the Death Metal Grindcore on.
