General (Switzerland)

This list lists all Swiss generals generals appointed in Swiss history.

The General is the highest rank in the Swiss army. It is reserved for the Commander in Chief of the Army and was appointed only in wartime.

In Switzerland, the usual generic name for all general ranks above colonel ( brigadier general, major general, lieutenant general, general ) is not common. The rank names are denominated in German Brigadier, Major General and Lieutenant General.

The head of the Swiss delegation in Panmunjeom obtained for the duration of their mission the title of major general (equivalent to a Major General ): Adrien Evéquoz 2000-2004 Gerhard Brügger 2004 to 2007, Jean -Jacques Joss since 2007.
