Genevieve Tobin

Genevieve Tobin ( born November 29, 1899 in New York City; † July 21, 1995 in Pasadena, California ) was an American actress.

Life

Genevieve Tobin was the daughter of showmen. In 1910 she made her debut in Uncle Tom 's Cabin in the film. Her Broadway debut at the age of twelve years on 25 April 1912 in the play Disraeli. After her studies in New York and Paris, she played henceforth mainly in the theater, including in some cases also in London. After their relocation in the early 1930s to Los Angeles, she was increasingly seen in the feature film. She was primarily seen in supporting roles in productions by Warner Bros. and RKO Pictures.

On September 20, 1938 Tobin married the director William Keighley. With the beginning of the marriage also ended her acting career. She traveled with him from now on to his world locations and lived with him mainly in London and Paris. During this time she began to study painting and was a serious artist.
