Gennady Grushevoy

Henads Uladsimerawitsch Hruschawy (* 1950 in Minsk, Soviet Union, † January 28, 2014 ) was a Belarusian philosopher and politician.

Hruschawy from 1973 was professor of philosophy at the University of Minsk. He was co-founder of the Belarusian National Front ( BNF ), which was in the days of Perestroika as a collective movement of the Belarusian opposition. From 1990 to 1995 he was a Member of Parliament. In 1989, the Foundation Hruschawy The Children of Chernobyl and was its chairman until his death. In 1999 he received the Thorolf Rafto Memorial Prize.

Hruschawy was married to the civil rights activist Irina Gruschewaja, with whom he had a son and a daughter. He died in January 2014 after a long illness.
