Geological Survey of Western Australia

The Geological Survey of Western Australia ( GSWA Abbr ) is the geoscientific authority of the Australian state of Western Australia. It is the responsibility of the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum ( Department of Mines and Petroleum ). The authorities is based in East Perth.

The government activity in this sector began in the 1880s. The development of the Western Australian gold fields played a beneficial role. The Authority has since engaged in geoscientific exploration work of any kind in Western Australia. This includes work on the regional geology, geochemistry, geophysics, geochronology and mineral deposits.
