Georg Albrecht of Saxe-Weissenfels, Count of Barby

Georg Albrecht ( Albert ) of Saxe- Weissenfels ( born April 19, 1695 in Dessau, † June 12, 1739 in Barby ) was from 1728 to 1739, the second and last Duke of Saxe- Weissenfels - Barby and came from a branch of the Albertine Wettin.

Family

Georg Albrecht was the fourth son of Duke Henry of Saxony - Weissenfels - Barby and his wife Elisabeth Albertine of Anhalt- Dessau, daughter of Prince Johann Georg II of Anhalt- Dessau.

Life

After the Georg Albrecht's two eldest brothers died young before he was born and also the third oldest son of Duke Henry, Prince Frederick Henry, returned from his Grand Tour not live in The Hague back. 1709 Georg Albrecht was first appointed on foot of King Friedrich Wilhelm I to colonel of a regiment. But he was the sole heir of his father in 1711 property and rights to Barby.

Marriage

Auguste Louise's maternal grandmother was Juliana Sophia von Barby and Mühlingen, the sister of the last Earl August Ludwig von Barby and Mühlingen. The marriage was extremely unhappy and both were divorced in 1732. Auguste Louise returned to her Silesian homeland and died about five months ago Georg Albrecht.
