Georg Bartisch

Georg Bartisch (* 1535 in Gräfenhain at Koenigsbrueck, † 1607) was a German physician.

He was born in Gräfenhain in the Electorate of Saxony, the son of working in Koenigsbrueck surgeon of the same name. In poor families grew, he began Bader and surgeon apprenticeship at the age of twelve years. Prove teaching certificates that bar table was two years in Matthew Fox in Wittenberg, and from 1563 at A. Mayscheider in Schönwaldt at Brno in teaching and developed without academic training to a significant oculist, stone cutters and surgeon.

As Elector of Saxony Hofoculist he wrote in 1583 in Dresden Ophthalmoduleia the work that is eye service - the first German textbook of ophthalmology. In this book he shares the Stare one according to their color in white, blue, green, gray, yellow and black starlings.

Less well known is Bartisch work as a urologist. In his " art book " he assembled all former knowledge in the treatment of bladder stone. The work demonstrates Bartisch high professional understanding and his abilities as a surgeon. He stands in a row with Ambroise Paré (1510-1590), Fabry of Hilden (1560-1634) and other well-known contemporary surgeons.

Bartisch handwriting on the stone section remained largely unknown until they accidentally discovered in 1893 Breslauer ophthalmologist Hermann Cohn in Dresden and made by the Berlin urologist Otto Mankiewicz bring out in 1905. It is the oldest recyclable German source via the lithotomy. For the scripture saith Bartisch great life experience he had gained in 28 years of work as a stone cutter. Approximately 450 patients he is said to have operated successfully on bladder stone.
