Georg Jann

Georg Jann ( born January 17, 1934 in limestone mountains ) is a German organ builder.

Life

1948 Georg Jann began in Potsdam organ building an apprenticeship with Alexander Schuke. The way led him and his family from 1961 through Switzerland and West Berlin to Regensburg. There he took over in 1974, the long-established organ workshop Eduard Hirnschrodt in the Regensburg district Stadtamhof. In 1975, the Opus 1 for the community Etzelwang was completed in the new workshop. A short time later, the company received its first orders for three-manual organ with 40 registers. In 1980, the first four-manual organ for the church of St. Joseph in Memmingen was completed with 52 registers. Later, the workshop was moved to the south of Regensburg Allkofen in Lower Bavaria.

Until 1995, Georg Jann directed his company " Georg Jann organ building master mode", then handed the parent company to his son Thomas. Since then called the Thomas Jann organ building workshop GmbH. Georg Jann moved the pipe workshop to Portugal. The end of 2005 he gave also this company called " Orguian " Detlef Jann, his eldest son.
