Georg Klusemann

Georg Klusemann ( born May 13, 1942 in Essen, † 4 May 1981 in Pisa ) was a German painter and children's book author.

Although he was at his death only 38 years old, George Klusemann left behind an extensive body of work.

Georg Klusemann belongs to the group of German artists such as Werner Gilles, Eduard Bargheer or Hoehme, in whose work a specific experience Italy became effective. After studying at the Dusseldorf Art Academy in the years 1962 to 1968 where he was a master student of the set designer Teo Otto, and after extensive study trips, which led him, inter alia, to Spain in the Middle East or South America, won his artistic work in the years around 1970, a clear own profile. Various impulses of European painting, sometimes more or less clearly, whether by Joan Miró, Victor Vasarely, Giorgio Morandi or Domenico Gnoli, from surrealism or Op Art, are processed in the factory, into one's own concept.

Georg Klusemann has worked as a painter, draftsman, graphic artist, poet and children's book author. His estate comprises about 350 paintings, 330 of prints, hundreds of drawings, gauche and watercolors as well as a lyrical work of art and fairy tales. His children's books have appeared in the Peter Hammer Verlag Beltz & Gelberg and. A complete catalog of works has appeared on behalf of the Regional Association of the Rhineland and the Rheinische Landesmuseum Bonn.

Georg Klusemanns paintings and his graphic work has been shown in over 40 exhibitions in France, Spain, Italy, Germany, United States and Venezuela. The most important retrospectives after his death found in the Folkwang Museum in Essen, Art Association of the Rhineland and Westphalia in Dusseldorf, at the Goethe- Institut New York, the Museo Bagatti Valsecchi in Milan and at the Museo d' arte contemporanea Villa Croce in Genoa instead.

It is equipped with individual works in the Metropolitan Museum in New York, the Museum of Modern Art, New York, in the Albertina in Vienna, in the Rheinische Landesmuseum in Bonn, arte contemporanea in the Museo d' Villa Croce in Genoa, in the Museo de Bellas Artes in Caracas as well as in numerous private collections.

Georg Klusemann is the main character of a documentary produced by ARTE. The film shows the search of his daughter Caterina Klusemann after the late father. In the film, his wife Elena Hochman - Klusemann and friends Ingrid Bachér, Ulrich Erben come, Hans -Joachim Gelberg and Hermann Schulz to speak.
