Georg Zacharias

Georg Zacharias ( born June 14, 1886 in Berlin, † July 31, 1953 ) was a German swimmer.

At the Olympic Games in 1904 in St. Louis, he became Olympic champion in the 440 yards breaststroke. Previously, he had already won the bronze medal over 110 yards in the backstroke. From 1907 to 1910 he held the world record in the 400 m breaststroke and from 1904 to 1910 he was also a world record holder over 500 m breaststroke. World records over these routes are no longer recorded since 1948.

In 2002 he was inducted into the Hall of Fame of the international swimming sport.
