George Frost (New Hampshire politician)

George Frost ( born April 26, 1720 in New Castle, Rockingham County, New Hampshire, † June 21, 1796 in Durham, New Hampshire ) was an American politician, who participated as a delegate from New Hampshire to the Continental Congress.

As a young man George Frost in Kittery Point went into business life in present-day Maine. He spent 20 years working as a captain of a merchant ship, before 1760 again settled in his native town of New Castle. In 1770 he moved to Durham, where he struck a legal career. Between 1773 and 1791 he served as judge of the Court of Common Pleas in Strafford County, where he held the chair for a long period as Chief Justice.

From 1777 to 1779 he took his seat as a delegate to the Continental Congress true, its meetings mainly took place during this period in Philadelphia and at times in York. Between 1781 and 1784, he served on the Executive Council of New Hampshire, the Government of his country. George Frost died in June 1796 in Durham and was buried in Dover.
