George Gaynes
George Gaynes (* as George Jongejans on 16 May 1917 in Helsinki ) is an American actor.
Gaynes ' mother Iya de Gay (later Lady Iya Abdy ) was an actress and father Gerrit Jongejans a businessman. Gaynes appeared in 1953 on the Broadway musical Wonderful Town. He played in the movie Lost in Space (1969 ) alongside Gregory Peck, Richard Crenna and Gene Hackman in the film Tootsie (1982 ) alongside Dustin Hoffman and The Crucible (1996 ) alongside Daniel Day- Lewis and Winona Ryder. Particularly well known made him the role of Eric Lassard in the films of the series Police Academy. He was also seen in several television series such as Search for Tomorrow, Rich Man, Poor II, Kiss ' me, John ( 1992-1993 ), Matlock, Punky Brewster and Chicago Hope.
Gaynes is married to Allyn Ann McLerie since 1953 and has two children.
