George Larner

George Larner ( George Edward Larner; born March 7, 1875 in Langley, Buckinghamshire, Berkshire today; † 4 March 1949 in Brighton ) was a British touring.

It was not until the age of 28 he found the Gehsport. In three years he won four league titles and set nine world records. In 1906 he resigned to devote himself to his career as a policeman in Brighton. But the police chief gave him free for the preparation and participation in the Olympic Games 1908 in London.

There, he won two gold medals. In the 3500 - meter track Go Larner won the first preliminaries in 15:32 minutes. In the final he rose to 14:55,0 min and won ahead of his compatriot Ernest Webb. In the 10 -mile walk on the path Larner won his preliminary round in 1:18:19 hours. In the final, he presented with 1:15:57 hours to set a world record and won again against Webb.

After the Games in 1908 Larner came back again, tried a comeback in 1911 yet, but broke this off before the Olympic Games in 1912. George Larner was after long years as Gehrichter. Some of his British records were still valid, as he died in 1949.
