George Murray Hulbert

George Murray Hulbert ( born May 14, 1881 in Rochester, New York, † April 26, 1950 in Bayport, New York, sometimes Murray Hulbert ) was an American lawyer and politician and MP in the House of Representatives of the United States for the state of New York. Later he became a federal judge.

Biography

Hulbert was born on May 14, 1881 in Rochester, but grew up in Waterloo, where he also went to school. He graduated from New York Law School. In 1902 he was admitted to the bar and then practiced in New York City.

As a delegate for the Democratic Party, he was elected in the fall of 1914 in the 64th Congress of the United States and two years later, in the 65th Congress of the United States, so he up to January 1, 1918 the U.S. House of Representatives from March 4, 1915 States belonged. His parliamentary career he gave up to take over the office of the Commissioner of Docks and director of the port of New York City.

In November 1921 he was elected to the Board of Aldermen of the city, represented Mayor John Francis Hylan, during his long illness. After the end of his political career was Hulbert President of Boston, Cape Cod & New York Canal Company, and again worked as a lawyer until in June 1934 by President Franklin D. Roosevelt to the district judge of the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York, he was appointed. This feature also practiced Hulbert from until his death in Bayport on Long Iceland on 26 April 1950.

Hulbert was buried in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne, New York.
