George Nevinson

George Wilfred Nevinson ( born October 3, 1882 in Wigan, Greater Manchester, † March 13, 1963 in Lancaster, Lancashire ) was a British water polo player.

Nevinson took part in the Olympic Games in London 1908. After his national team won the game without a fight by the withdrawal of Austria in the first round, the team moved directly to the final, which was won 9-2 against Belgium. Nevinson thereby won his only Olympic medal gold medal in water polo.

Participation at the Olympic Games 1912, he had to cancel due to injury, as he recently broke his leg. For most of his career he played for the Salford SC, moved to Lancaster in 1913 but where he took a job as a carpenter. He was married twice and had seven daughters and three sons.
