George Robert Sims

George Robert Sims ( born September 2, 1847 in Kennington, London Borough of Lambeth, † September 4, 1922 City of Westminster, London ) was an English writer, journalist and social reformer.

Life

Sims was the eldest child (of six) of businessman George Sims and his wife, the suffragette Louisa Amelie Stevenson. He spent his childhood in Islington, his school years in Eastbourne. He then attended the Hanwell Military College and later studied at the University of Bonn.

As a child, wrote poems Sims; his debut as a writer he had while studying in Bonn. Among several plays that he wrote at this time, was also an editor of Roderich Bendix ' "Doctor wasp ", which also came from the University of the performance.

As Sims his studies continued in France, he studied the works of Honoré de Balzac to know and appreciate. He began to translate and publish in 1874 was his " Contes Drolatiques " in English. In addition to his own literary work, Sims was also a frequent contributor to various newspapers and magazines and over the years he became one of the most famous writers of the Victorian era.
