Georges Dreyer

Georges Dreyer (* 1873 in Shanghai, † 1934) was a Danish physician and scientist.

Life

His father was stationed at the time of his birth as a member of the Danish Navy in Shanghai. In 1900 he completed his medical training from Copenhagen. From 1907 to 1934 he was professor of pathology at the University of Oxford. During World War II he was a medical advisor height of the Royal Air Force. Later he directed acclaimed pressure chamber experiments, which were also the basis for the use of artificial oxygen for mountain climbing. His findings were used in the British Mount Everest Expedition 1922.
