Georgi Obretenov

Georgi Tichow Obretenov (also Georgi Tihov Obretenov written; Bulgarian Георги Тихов Обретенов; * to 1849 in Russian, then Ottoman Empire, † May 10, 1876 at Nejkowo, today in Bulgaria ) was a Bulgarian revolutionary and freedom fighter. Obretenov took part in the failed Stara Zagora - Uprising of 1875. A year later, he was co-organizer and leader of the also beaten down, April Uprising. He was a military instructor of the insurgents in the II Region Sliven revolutionary. Surrounded by the Turkish military and the guerrillas he committed suicide during the uprising.
