Georgia women's national football team

The Georgian national football team of women is the official football team of Georgia. Currently ( March 2013 ) it is in the FIFA world rankings the provisional 125th place, as the team more than 18 months was inactive. The best result was achieved with number 88 in December 2009. Since Georgia is UEFA's member, the team takes part in the European Championships, although Georgia geographically part of Asia.

History

By 1990, Georgia was part of the Soviet Union and had no independent national. The Georgian Football Federation was founded in 1990 and joined in 1992 by UEFA and FIFA.

The first international match of the women's national team since the independence it gave on 10 September 1997 at 00:11 against Yugoslavia. On 11 May 2009 succeeded in the friendly against Macedonia with a 3-1 first victory. All home games have been played in Rustavi and Tbilisi. So far, Georgia could not qualify for a World Championship yet. In qualifying for the World Cup 2011 Georgia finished last in its group. The best result here was a 1-1 draw against Bulgaria. In the first qualifying match against Denmark, the team conceded with a 0:15 their highest-ever defeat. In Vorqualifikationsturnier for EURO 2013 in Malta Georgia resigned as third in the group. In Vorqualifikationsturnier for 2015 World Championships in April 2013 in Lithuania retired from Georgia, but was able to defeat the hosts 4-3.
