Georgios Tsitas

Georgios Tsitas (Greek Γεώργιος Τσίτας, * 1872 in Izmir, Ottoman Empire, † unknown) was a Greek wrestler.

Olympics 1896 Athens

In the first round of competitions in the style wrestlers Greco- Roman Tsitas had a bye, so he only had to play in the semifinals. He was thus in the medals before he had ever fought a battle. In the semifinals Tsitas fought against his compatriot Greek Stephanos Christopoulos. He won the fight by throwing Christopoulos to the ground. In the finals of the competitions had Tsitas fight against the German wrestler Carl Schuhmann. On the first day he fought 40 minutes against the Germans before the nightfall interrupted the fight. The next day Tsitas lost after fifteen more minutes of the fight.
