Gerald Gazdar

Gerald Gazdar ( born February 24, 1950) is a British linguist.

In 1970, he received his bachelor's degree at the University of East Anglia. He received in 1972 from the University of Reading, where he also completed his Ph. D. in 1976 his master. Since 1975, Gazdar worked as a professor of linguistics at the University of Sussex. In 1985 he became a professor of Computational Linguistics from 1988 to 1993 he was dean. In 2002, he retired.

Together with his colleagues Ewan Klein, Geoffrey Pullum and Ivan Sag, he developed the Generalized Phrase Structure Grammar.
