Geoffrey K. Pullum

Geoffrey K. Pullum (* 1945 in Irvine ( Scotland)) is an American linguist.

Career

Pullum had a mediocre educational career, which ended when he left school with 16 years ago the university. After he had followed different activities and had occurred as part of the rock band " Geno Washington ", he enrolled in 1968 at the University of York, where he graduated in 1972 with a Bachelor and awards. In 1976, he received from the University of London Ph. D. in linguistics.

In 1980, Pullum in the U.S., where he was admitted as a guest lecturer at the University of Washington and Stanford University. Since 1981 he works at the University of California, Santa Cruz. In 1987 he received U.S. citizenship. Since 2007 he is Professor of Linguistics. Since 2007 he works as a Professor of General Linguistics at the University of Edinburgh.
