Gerald Melzer

Gerald Melzer ( born July 13, 1990 in Vienna) is an Austrian tennis player.

Biography

Gerald Melzer's father, Rudolf Kommerzialrat Melzer ( SPÖ), was from 1998 to 2001 mayor of German -Wagram; his mother Michaela Melzer 's employees. His older brother Jurgen Melzer is the most successful Austrian tennis player in the present.

Career

2008-2010

Melzer's biggest success in 2008 was survive the qualifying and reaching the second round of the ATP Challenger tournament in Graz. In addition, he and his older brother Jürgen won at the same event the doubles tournament.

In July 2010, Gerald Melzer survived the qualification of the ATP tournament in Umag and was thus for the first time in the main draw of a tournament of the ATP World Tour. He had already failed in the first round at the Czech Jan Hájek clear 4:6, 3:6. In September of the same year he won his first three Futures tournaments in Burundi, Rwanda and Uganda.

Since 2011

After a mediocre start to the season with some first-and second-round defeats Melzer won in May 2011, his fourth Future in the United States and moved in the same event to the final of the double competition. In November Melzer managed to successfully defend the title at the Futures in Burundi and Rwanda. In October Melzer took the second time at the main competition part of the ATP Double Tournament in Vienna, but failed, as in the previous year in the first round.

Melzer won 2012 other futures as well as his most second tournament of the Challenger category in the year.

In April 2013 Melzer survived in Houston qualification, and stood for the second time in his career in the main draw of an ATP tournament. However, he failed in the first round clear 6-2, 6-2 at the Italian Paolo Lorenzi.
