Gerald Strafner

Gerald " Gerry " Strafner ( born June 3, 1973 in Voitsberg ) is an Austrian football player at the position of a defensive and midfield player. He currently plays for ASK Voitsberg in the third-class Austrian Regionalliga Mitte.

Career

The Styrian began his career at ASK Voitsberg. From there he moved in 1996 to Grazer AK, where he inserted itself quickly and made for the first time Austria far attracted attention in European Cup games. However, after the signing of coach Klaus Augenthaler in 1997 and numerous signings he lost his place in the " Red Devils" and changed before the spring season 1998 SV Ried. There he was able to demonstrate as a striker in the European Cup games and the championship and win the 1998 OFB Cup. His goals in the European Cup earned him the nickname " Euro Gerry ".

During his time at SK Sturm Graz Gerry Strafner played three times for the Austrian national football team. He made his debut on 27 October 2001 in a 1-1 draw in World Cup qualifier against Israel in Tel Aviv. 2004/ 05 he went to FC Kärnten in the second-class First League, where he played as captain until 2007. 2007 - 2009 he was at FC Gratkorn under contract. In 2009 he returned to his first club ASK Voitsberg. Since the summer of 2012 Gerald Strafner plays for ASK Koflach.
