Gerald Veasley

Gerald Veasley ( born July 28, 1955 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) is an American bassist of the fusion jazz.

Life

Veasley, who grew up in Philadelphia and zuwendete with twelve years of the bass guitar, played as a teenager in R & B bands. After studying at the University of Pennsylvania. He worked with Odean Pope, Pat Martino and Jaco Pastorius, before he became a member of the band of Grover Washington Jr. in 1986. In 1988 he moved to Joe Zawinul, in which he remained until 1995. He took with McCoy Tyner, the Dixie Hummingbirds and John Blake, and has worked extensively as a studio musician.

Since 1992, he published his own plates. Its publication Your Move reached # 12 on the Billboard Charts for Contemporary Jazz Album.

Veasley also launched a jazz club in Reading (Pennsylvania) and worked as a presenter at Smooth Jazz stations WJJZ in Philadelphia. Readers of Jazziz Magazine recorded him as "the best electric bassist " from.
