Gerald Weiß

Gerald Dietmar Eberhard White ( born January 8, 1960 in Lübz ) is a former track and field athlete, who was sixth in the 1988 Olympic javelin for the GDR.

White was able to place himself in 1979 as a fifth in the GDR championships. In 1980, he finished behind Detlef Michel with 82.72 m in second place, 1981, he threw the spear at the GDR championships on 89,56 m and won his only championship. In 1983 he was with 86,02 m second behind Michel, 1984 ranged 88.94 m only to third place behind Uwe Hohn and Detlef Michel. 1985 White took fourth place.

With the new spear used from 1986 was white at first along well, he finished in the GDR championships with 80.88 m in second place behind Detlef Michel. At the European Championships in 1986 in Stuttgart, both represented together the GDR. In the qualification White managed a throw of 81.40 meters, which would have been enough in the final for the fourth place. White threw but only 76.24 meters in the preliminaries and was eliminated from eleventh after the preliminaries. 1987 White finished with 75.80 meters, he reached the second place in the GDR championships behind Detlef Michel, 1988 81.92 m second place behind Silvio Warsönke. At the Olympic Games in Seoul in 1988, the experienced White with conditions came along better than the young Warsönke. White reached 80.22 m the finals and finished with 81.30 m in sixth place. After two third place finishes at the last two championships of the GDR, joined White in 1991 at the first all-German championships after the turn and finished fifth.

The Best of Gerald White with the old spear stood at 90.06 meters, which he had thrown in 1984. With the new spear he came in 1988 to 83,30 m. Gerald White stepped to the SC tractor or Schwerin Schwerin SC. At a height of 1.93 m his competition weight was 105 kg. In the becoming public knowledge after the fall of documents to the state doping in the GDR was found in the doped athletes also the name of White. Gerald White is a qualified automotive locksmith.
