Gerbe

The term Gerbe is used in algebraic topology for a particular type of stacks on a topological space. Partial as well as special cases of such tanning be simplistically described as tanning, for example Bündelgerben or Hitchin - tanning. An important characterization of tanning is their band.

Definition: A Gerbe on a topological space is a stack over in the 2- category of groupoids which satisfies the following two Gerbenaxiome:

  • There is an object in with.
  • For each object in and two objects in it is a morphism in, and a morphism in.

The first axiom is therefore asking that non- trivial, while the second axiom is a certain transitivity.
