Nathan Gerbe

Nathan Gerbe ( born July 26, 1987 in Oxford, Michigan ) is an American professional ice hockey player who is since July 2013 when the Carolina Hurricanes in the National Hockey League contract.

Career

Nathan Gerbe began his career as a hockey player with the River City Lancers of the United States Hockey League, for whom he played in the 2002/03 season. In the years 2003 to 2005, the winger was in the crew of the U.S. National Team Development Program active in the North American Hockey League. He was then selected in the NHL Entry Draft in 2005 in the fifth round as the 142nd overall player of the Buffalo Sabres. However, the next three years playing the Americans for the first hockey team at Boston College in the National Collegiate Athletic Association. In his last year of college, he won the national championship with the team and was personally nominated for the Hobey Baker Memorial Award.

In summer 2008, Gerbe was in the squad of the Portland Pirates of the American Hockey League, the farm team of the Sabres recorded, for which he first played in professional hockey. On 6 December 2008, he made ​​his debut in the National Hockey League in an away game against the Tampa Bay Lightning. In June 2013 his contract was paid early by the Sabres (buy out). In the same month Gerbe signed a one-year contract with the Carolina Hurricanes.
