Hockey East

The Hockey East Association ( HE) is an American university and college sports league that is based in New England. It belongs to the Division I of the National Collegiate Athletic Association and is a pure hockey Conference.

The Hockey East was founded in 1984 when Mr. league, as most of its members present today's Eastern College Athletic Conference left. At that time you tried the Big East Conference, which grew substantially within a few years to imitate. Only in 2002 the Women's League of Hockey East was formed.

Mode

The participating teams will play at first during the regular season two double rounds. The table first wins the championship of the so-called Regular Season. The top eight teams will take part in the play-offs.

The quarter-finals will be played in best-of -three mode, and all games take place in the venue of the better -placed. The semi -final and final matches will be held on a weekend in mid-March at the TD Garden in Boston. The first two finals in the history of Hockey East were still played in Providence, Rhode Iceland at the Providence Civic Center, before being moved in 1987 to Boston.

The final tournament of the Ladies will be held in Boston since the founding of the League. First, it was held in the Matthews Arena before moving to the Walter Brown Arena Boston University in 2005. In 2006, the tournament was again held in the Matthews Arena before it was fought in 2007 in the Whittemore Center in New Hampshire.
