Gerd Michael Henneberg

Gerd Michael Henneberg (* July 14, 1922 in Magdeburg, † January 1, 2011 in Berlin; actually Gerhard Otto Henneberg ) was a German actor, theater director and intendant.

Life

Gerd Michael Henneberg, was born as the son of Richard Henneberg (1897-1959), an actor and theater director. His grandfather on the paternal side, the Social Democrat Friedrich Henneberg (1872 - 1952), who was interim president after 1945 in the first Magdeburg Parliament. Gerd Michael Henneberg was in 1937 after private acting lessons at age 16 in Leipzig on the theater stage. After engagements in Aschaffenburg and the German National Theatre in Weimar ( here, among other things, 1948 in the reopening staging Faust I ), he moved to Berlin. There Henneberg appeared as an actor in the theater at Schiffbauerdamm and at the Volksbühne in appearance. From the mid- 1970s he was a member of the ensemble at Berlin's Maxim Gorki Theater for several decades. There he was, among others, in over 400 performances of One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, directed by Rolf Winkelgrund as inpatient Scanlon and in Tony Kushner political satire Slavs! (1995 ) can be seen. One of his last roles was that of the theater factotum Shunderson in Curt Goetz's Comedy MD Job Prätorius with Horst Schulze in the title role, directed by Martin Wolffer on the comedy Dresden ( 1997). On October 5, 1960 Henneberg received the award for artistic people creating first class.

As a theater director Henneberg was active in the 1960s, first at the Friedrich- Wolf- Theater in Neustrelitz, where he developed the musical My Fair Lady with Doris Abesser staged, among others, success in the title role. After the death of Henry Allmeroth he joined in February 1962 as General Director of the state theater in Dresden. After productions different contemporary materials had been strongly criticized by the SED press, he had to be in October 1965 publicly justify and admit that the Playhouse " have not made a decisive contribution to the development of the socialist drama ", not a socialist author is with the ensemble and Dresden have over other platforms GDR lost " ground substance." Gerd Michael Henneberg was married several times. One of his children ( from his marriage to actress and television presenter Mary Kuehne ) is the television journalist Hellmuth Henneberg (born 1958 ). In early 2011, died Gerd Michael Henneberg after a long illness at the age of 88 years.
