Gerhard Boetzelen

Hans Gerhard Boetzelen ( born January 7, 1906 in Bernburg (Saale ), † February 27th 1995 in York, Pennsylvania ) was a German rowing athletes and Olympic silver medalist in the double sculls of 1932.

Boetzelen launched for the Berlin Rowing Club. In 1929, he won his first one in German Championship, where he directed the five -time champions Walter Flinsch to second place. 1930 Boetzelen could successfully defend his title. 1931 Herbert moved Buhtz from Magdeburg to Berlin RC and formed with Boetzelen a double scull. The two won the German championship in 1931, won in one Buhtz while Boetzelen finished in third place. At the 1932 Olympic Games in Los Angeles Buhtz and Boetzelen erruderten the silver medal behind the two Americans Kenneth Myers and William Gilmore.

1933 Boetzelen moved to the position of Berlin Gausportwarts the organization Strength through Joy. Later he was Gausportlehrer the NSDAP and supervised sport in the Nazi Order Castles.
