Gerhard grains ( born September 20, 1941 in Zwickau ) is a former football player and 33 -times national football team of the GDR.

Grains, which was inspired by the poet of the Napoleonic Wars, Theodor Körner, called during his footballer career " Theo " belonged in the 1960s to the top football players in the GDR. This is demonstrated not only his five young Internationals and 33 games in the GDR 's national soccer team 1962-1969, but also his 276 appearances in Serie A, the top football class of the GDR, which he exclusively with the then leading East German football club FC Vorwärts Berlin ( 1971 FC Vorwärts Frankfurt (Oder) ) completed and another 25 European games. His athletic talent showed grains already at school sports. His physical education teacher made sure that he is to play football in the BSG bismuth in his native Wilkau- Haßlau, a small town just outside of Zwickau, filed. Until the age of 18 grains went through there all ages, before he enlisted after graduating from school to serve in the GDR army.
