Gerhard T. Buchholz

Gerhard Traugott Buchholz ( born January 1, 1898 in Mockrau, Silesia, now Poland, † November 30, 1970 in Berlin) was a German writer, film director and screenwriter.

Life

He studied painting at the Art Academy of Königsberg. After his graduation as local painter and stage designer, he worked at the theater in Königsberg. Even in later years remained Buchholz active as a painter.

At the beginning of the 1930s he began to press a writer. From 1937 he wrote screenplays, mostly for harmless film comedies. As a co- author, he was, however, also involved in the anti-Semitic production The Rothschilds. He authored beyond one imaged " factual report " for this film.

After the war, he tried twice as a director and with his Cologne Occident Filmproduktion GmbH as a producer. He repeatedly thematized experiencing any problems in the divided Germany. At the International Film Festival in Berlin in 1958 he was a member of the jury.
