Gerhard von Hosstrup

Gerhard von Hoßtrup Gerhard Carsten Hoßtrupp or Hosstrup, full name Gerhard Jakob von Carsten Hoßtrup ( born April 23 1771 in Hamburg, † September 7, 1851 ) was the founder of the Hamburg stock exchange hall.

Life

Gerhard von Hoßtrup was the son of an immigrant to Hamburg school teacher (also: " wealthy private citizen " ) probably called Carstens, who came from the Schleswig Hoßtrup. To avoid confusion, this added up to its name with the suffix " of Hoßtrup ". Gerhard Hoßtrup limited the last name on the (non- noble ) Origin of Hoßtrup. In Hamburg, he founded his own business, " Korn & of Hoßtrup " for manufactured goods and fashion, which he continued until 1812. He married his first wife, Sophie Henriette Elizabeth (Betty) Seyler, after her death in 1837 her sister Luise Auguste.

By moving the stock market in the New Exchange 1842, the business was going well, but when was the Great Fire of Hamburg, Hamburg has now become a landmark adult, building a basis. In 1843 was Hoßtrupp upper age in the College of Civil head. After his death in 1851, the Directorate of Market Hall remained until 1 July 1852 in the hands of his sons Egmont and Gerhard Ludwig von Hoßtrup. His daughter Bertha (1814-1902) was married to Albert Hanel.
