In the administration of Community Gernrode / Harz in the district of Harz five and last two communities were initially joined forces to do their administrative business. The administrative community Gernrode / resin existed since 1 January 1994. Prior to its incorporation into the city and the valley communities Friedrich Brunn and Stecklenberg the administrative community belonged to. After the incorporation of the three remaining places in the united community Quedlinburg managing community was disbanded on 1 January 2011. On February 19, 2013, the country's Constitutional Court declared the annexation on a technicality in the consultation process to be unconstitutional and picked it up. On 1 December 2013, the municipality Rieder was separated from the administrative community and incorporated to Ballenstedt. On January 1, 2014, the administrative community was redissolved and Bad Suderode and Gernrode were again incorporated into the town of Quedlinburg.
