Stecklenberg is a nationally recognized resort and district of the town of Thale in the Harz district in Saxony- Anhalt.

Geographical location

Stecklenberg located in the northern eastern Harz Mountains at the edge of the valley of the worm Ramberges Bach and can be reached via roads of Neinstedt and Bad Suderode.

History

Stecklenberg stands at the foot of the castle of the same name and the slightly higher Lauenburg. Both castles are now ruins and can be viewed as such. The town was the seat of a separate ministry, which came in 1815 at the Magdeburg Region of the Prussian province of Saxony. Due to the chlorine -calcium source in the town developed around 1900 in the increasingly tourism.

The domain Stecklenberg was located since 1861 in the possession of the Barons von dem Bussche - Streithorst.

On 23 November 2009, by then independent municipality Stecklenberg was incorporated into the valley.
