Gero von Wilpert

Gero von Wilpert ( born March 13, 1933, Tartu ( German: Dorpat ), Estonia, † December 24, 2009 in Sydney, Australia ) was a German author and literary critic.

Life and work

Wilpert studied from 1953 to 1957 literature and linguistics, classical philology and philosophy in Heidelberg. After many years of working as a lecturer in Stuttgart (1957-1972) he was a professor of German literature in Sydney.

His kind words book of literature has been one of the first 1955 edition of the most widely used and best-known reference works of German literature science. In addition, he has, inter alia, Works to Goethe and Schiller, and a Baltic German literature written history.
