Gert Blomé

Gert Arne Blome ( born August 28, 1934 in Gävle ) is a retired Swedish professional ice hockey player.

Career

Gert Blome began his career as a hockey player in his hometown at Gävle Godtemplares IK, for the first team, he was from 1956 to 1961 in Division 1, the then highest Swedish league, active. With the Gavle GIK he won the 1957 national championship. From 1961 until his career end of 1972 he played for Västra Frölunda IF, with whom he also Swedish Champion in 1965. On championship with Västra Frölunda Blome played a key role and was Guldpucken player of the year in Sweden.

Internationally

For Sweden Blome participated in Squaw Valley and 1964 in Innsbruck at the Olympic Winter Games 1960. At the Winter Games in 1964 he won the silver medal with his team. In addition, he was in his country's squad at the World Championships 1958, 1962, 1963, 1965 and 1967. At the World Championships in 1958 and 1965, he won the silver medal with his team each the bronze at the World Championships in 1963 and 1967. In the 1962 World Cup Blome won the gold medal with Sweden. As the best European team, the team was also European champion.
