GetSimple CMS

GetSimple CMS is a free web content management system with the primary goal to be simple and easy to use. It is based on the programming language PHP and uses XML files to store the content. This is in contrast to other CMS software, the mostly used databases.

History

GetSimple CMS was created in 2009 by the resident of Pittsburg in the USA web developer Chris Cagle, who still heads the project as lead developer. Own account, he created GetSimple CMS from the need to have a CMS that is to use " as powerful as WordPress ', but easier. Since then, other developers are determined to GetSimple team. An active community controls with plug-ins, translations and themes.

Description

GetSimple CMS was created for smaller websites. The target groups of the CMS are organizations, companies and individuals who need a small to medium size website on the order of 10 to about 500 pages. According to statistics from the W3C tech CMS of less than 0.1 % of all websites will be used. The largest market is to date the Czech Republic.

A simple installation process ( copying the files to the web server and start the installation routine ) allows the immediate work with the program. Some web hosts offer the CMS already preinstalled. After installation, the software can be extended with numerous plug-ins. Addition, there are so-called Themes for the individual design of the website.

Own account, the software has been downloaded 120,000 times (as of March 2013). The magazine t3n GetSimple classified as " micro " and " minimum - CMS" one, praises the simplicity and yet possible extensibility through plug-ins. The author of the article stated that the concept of theming GetSimple belong to the most intuitive, which he had seen so far. The British magazine Computer Active highlights the backup function and the simplicity and cleanliness of the work surface as well as the included templates. The Content Manager magazine dedicated to the CMS a detailed idea and took it in 2012 next to TYPO3 and WordPress in a comparison of 15 open source CMS. Hot Scripts counted the CMS in May 2010 on the ten simplest and lightest weight scripts in Web Design Shack ranks it among 50 WordPress alternatives in eighth place on. On the specialized demo installations page OpenSourceCMS.com GetSimple was one of the 30 most common and best -rated systems (as of 2013).

The German-speaking Community was dedicated as the only language besides English, a separate area on the official forum.
