Getting Away with Murder is the third official studio album of the Californian band Papa Roach. It was released on 31 August 2004. It was the first album with Geffen Records and reached number 17 on the Billboard charts.

Music style

On Getting Away with Murder less nu-metal bonds than on the previous albums Lovehatetragedy and Infest are included and contains hardly any rap elements. The album is stylistically more in the direction of alternative rock, Allmusic Guide calls but as the styles and Alternative Metal, Heavy Metal and Hard Rock also be heard, even punk influences like to Tyranny / Normality and Done with You. The latter is next determined by tempo changes. On the title track, Getting Away with Murder Industrial elements are included and Be Free has certain parallels with the musical style of AC / DC on. The song Scars is one of the first ballad of the band at all and therefore has a different rhythm than the rest of the songs on Getting Away with Murder.

The album reached the German-speaking and in the United States, the top 20 of the charts. After Getting Away with Murder was awarded in 2005 in the United States with the gold record, it is there now with the higher platinum record certification.

The response of critics to Getting Away with Murder varied considerably. From eight English-language reviews the website Metacritic calculated an average score of 59 out of 100 possible points.

In German media there were also different views on the album. Rock-Hard -author Marcus Schleutermann praised in his criticism of the guitar Jerry Horton, which is " essential for the recognition of Papa Roach " sorrow.
