Ghanaian constitutional referendum, 1960

In the referendum in Ghana 1960, the population of Ghana was presented the first constitution of the independent state since 1957 to a vote. This constitution provided for the establishment of a strong presidency. In the referendum, the Constitution was adopted. Kwame Nkrumah was elected on the basis of the Constitution as the first President of Ghana from 1960.
