Ghassan Hitto

Ghassan Hitto (Arabic غسان هيتو; born 1963 in Damascus, Syria) was dated 18 March 2013 to 8 July 2013, the first Prime Minister of a supported of the opposition Syrian National coalition transitional government in the Syrian civil war. He is of Kurdish origin, and in addition to the Syrian and the U.S. citizenship.

Life

Hitto studied in the U.S. state of Indiana, Purdue University and Indiana Wesleyan University mathematics and computer science and received his bachelor 's and master's degrees. He then spent a long time in the United States, most recently in Wayne, Texas, where he worked as a businessman and manager in the telecommunications and IT industry. His wife, Suzanne Hitto, is an American teacher. The couple has four children, who were born in the United States. In Texas itself Hitto dedicated for Islamic school. In circles of the Syrian opposition Hitto was largely unknown until 2012. Ghassan Hitto is close to the Islamist movement. Rather leftist and liberal parts of the Syrian opposition, which rejected his choice, evaluated the decision for Hitto as a concession to the government of Qatar, which strongly supported the rebels, and especially the Syrian Muslim Brotherhood.

Hitto had its headquarters in Istanbul. He concludes from negotiations with President Assad and instead it uses its overthrow by the desertion of other officers of the government troops.

On July 8, 2013 he resigned from his job of prime minister of the interim government.
