Occurrence, lifestyle and dissemination

The species was discovered in 2006 in Wales and in 2008 first described formally. Since the range of the Trigonochlamydidae family to the Caucasus and the mountains of northern Turkey and northern Iran is limited, it is believed that it has been introduced. Selenochlamys ysbryda but differs from the one previously described species of the genus Selenochlamys, Selenochlamys pallida O. Boettger, 1883 therefore described in some features and was as a new species. Because of the radula and anatomy of the pharynx is accepted by the animals that they are carnivores and hunt earthworms. They live mainly underground and are nocturnal. You are so far known only from a few locations in South Wales.

System

The species name " ysbryd " in Welsh means " ghost " and alludes to the ghostly white color. The trivial name is derived from the English "ghost slug " spirits snail. It is only the second species in the genus Selenochlamys O. Boettger, 1883.
