Gianni Giansanti

Gianni Giansanti ( born 1956 in Rome, † March 18, 2009 ) was an Italian photographer and author who is best known for work in photojournalism and sports.

Life

Giansanti began his career in 1977 as a freelancer and a year later became world famous for his photos of the discovery of the body of Aldo Moro. In the following years he was primarily as a photographer active in the world of sport, for seven years he photographed Pope John Paul II on his travels. International, he worked as a press photographer for the agency Sygma. He worked among others with Africa, especially with the still very primitive tribes such as in southern Ethiopia in the Omo Valley.

Giansanti died in 2009 in Rome from leukemia.
