Gibeauxiella reliqua

Gibeauxiella reliqua is a butterfly (moth ) from the family of the splendor butterfly ( Cosmopterigidae ).

Features

The moths have a wingspan of 11 mm. Head and forehead ( frons ) are yellowish white, the vertex (vertex ) is creamy white. The antennae are curled brown and cream white. The thorax is bright brown. The tegulae are also bright brown and ocher on the sides and rear. The forewings are glossy brown scaly and rough. The center of the outermost wing base is marked with a small, creamy white spot. At 1/ 5 of the forewing length of a creamy white band runs obliquely outwards. It is not enough to wing inner edge. Two creamy white Costalflecke be half and in 4/ 5 of the forewing length. The outer spot is bigger. The interior angle is provided with a large, round, creamy white spot. The fringe scales are dark gray-brown, the apex they are dark brown and pale to the inner angle. The hind wings are gray-brown and have a golden glow. The fringe scales are gray-brown. The abdomen is shiny gray-brown, the anus tufts gray.

In the males the right brachium is curved before apex. The left brachium tapers distally abruptly to a sharp point. The Valven are lobed and have no distinct projections or indentations. They are slightly asymmetrical, the right Valve has at the top a small tooth. The Valvellae are spatulate and slightly curved outward. Valvella the right is larger than the left. Further extensions of the same length are present, the right is elongated and triangular, the left is parallel walls. The aedeagus is short and curved, tapering gradually distally.

Similar Species

Gibeauxiella reliqua differs from the similar nature Gibeauxiella bellaqueifontis by the absence of the second creamy white spot on the forewing inner edge of the small spot at the wing tip, the ocher drawing elements and protruding scales tuft. The hind wings are slightly darker.

Dissemination

Gibeauxiella reliqua has only been in France ( Forêt de Fontainebleau ) found.

Biology

The only known specimen of this species was collected in early May on the lying trunk of an old beech ( Fagus sylvatica).
