Gibraltar Squadron

The Coast Guard Gibraltar (Gibraltar Squadron ) is a unit of the British Royal Navy. It is the only armed naval unit of Gibraltar and is part of British Forces Gibraltar. It has two 16 m Patrolienboote, HMS Scimitar and the sister ship HMS Sabre. In addition, it has three Pacific 24 rigid inflatable boats. The Coast Guard has a team strength of 22 men.

The Coast Guard has always played an important role again in the Fisheries Jurisdiction of Gibraltar and was involved in skirmishes with boats of SEMAR ( Grupo Servicio Marítimo) of the Spanish Guardia Civil.
