Gibson Amphitheatre

The Gibson Amphitheatre (formerly Universal Amphitheatre ) is an entertainment venue in Universal City in Los Angeles. At concerts for up to 6,189 people. The venue was originally built as the open-air venue. The musical Jesus Christ Superstar was the first production, which was performed in 1973 at the Amphitheater, but had to be terminated because of unfavorable weather conditions. In 1982 it was converted into a hall to improve the acoustics.

Since its opening, the venue was called the Universal Amphitheatre and was renamed in 2005 after the sale of the naming rights to the Gibson Guitar Corporation. Here you will find regularly the MTV Movie Awards and the Teen Choice Awards will be held. On December 6, 2011, announced that the Gibson Amphitheatre will be demolished to make room for a Harry Potter theme park. In September 2013, two performances by the Backstreet Boys and the musician Pepe Aguilar were the last in the conference hall. The comedian George Lopez kissed the ground in his last appearance in the event hall.
