Giens peninsula

Geographical location

The Giens Peninsula ( Presqu'ile de Giens French ) with the same name Giens lies at the western end of the Cote d' Azur between Toulon and Saint- Tropez, facing the town of Hyères. It is connected to the mainland by two isthmuses. Giens is part of the town of Hyères.

Tourism

On Giens is one of the most popular windsurfing and Kitereviere France. In the lagoon between the two isthmuses, a former Saline plant, live flamingos. The underwater world of Giens among divers has gained a certain notoriety as, alongside many native fish species also some wrecks can be seen. For example, the Norwegian freighter Le donor, the Le Grec, the Le Vapeur or the former steamship Le Michel C.

From Giens from the Porquerolles island can be reached by boat.
