Gijs Luirink

Gijs Luirink ( born September 12, 1983 in Amsterdam) is a Dutch football player. The defender is at Sparta Rotterdam in the Eerste Divisie under contract.

Career

Association

In youth played Luirink to start for FC Abcoude and later with Ajax Amsterdam. However, his professional career started at second division FC Volendam, where he came to a total of 54 missions in the Eerste Divisie. Between 2004 and 2006 he carried the colors of FC Groningen, before he moved to Alkmaar in summer 2006. In the first year he took third place with Red and Whites. Due to a serious injury he fell out of the entire 2007/08 season and did not play for the AZ.

After he was running in the 2009/10 season for RKC Waalwijk, he returned in the summer of 2010 after Alkmaar; During the winter break of 2010/11 he was loaned to second division side SC Cambuur.

National

He took part in the U-21 European Football Championships in Portugal in 2006.
